Land Cover / Land Use Map of Germany Based on Meris Full Resolution Data

چکیده
This paper describes first results of a land cover / land use (LCLU) classification of Germany, developed at the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DLR-DFD). The automated, yearly updated product is based on MERIS level 2 full resolution data. The classification procedure consists of two main steps, namely a multispectral and a multitemporal analysis. The legend of the LCLU map is defined according to the classification system LCCS developed by FAO and UNEP. The new product is dedicated indicating land cover / land use changes at medium spatial resolution which are of importance in research areas such as climate change. At a later date, the spatial extension of the map to the entire area of Europe will be performed.

Unmixing-based Landsat and Meris Image Fusion for Land Cover Mapping over the Netherlands
Anthropogenic land use activities are significantly contributing to the ecological degradation of the Earth system. Therefore, having actual and reliable land cover information is fundamental to study the impact of such an ecological degradation on our future welfare. High spatial resolution sensors, such as Landsat TM, are typically used to derive land cover information from local to regional ...

The Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) is a payload component of Envisat-1. MERIS is operated over land with a standard 15 band setting acquiring images in the VIS and NIR part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Data are acquired at 300 m (full resolution) and 1200 m (reduced resolution) spatial resolution over land, thus vegetation can be monitored at regional to global scales. Major...

متن کاملDeriving Land Cover Information over Siberia: Comparing Results from MERIS and MODIS
With the availability of space-borne data from medium resolution optical sensors such as MERIS and MODIS, deriving land cover information of large areas is expected to improve considerably. Both, the higher spatial and spectral resolution compared to previously available data from AVHRR seem to be far more suited for detailed mapping of land cover. Within the Siberia-II project (EU contract EVG...
متن کاملMeris Based Land Cover Classification with Self-organizing Maps: Preliminary Results
With the recent launch of MERIS, a wide range of new possibilities for the periodic land cover characterization at regional scale is available. This sensor offers a combination of innovative features, such as high spectral and temporal resolutions, wide geographical coverage and improved atmospheric correction. We believe that the exploitation of data obtained by this new sensor fills previous ...
